Direct answer
What should you know first?
Before commercial pressure washing, confirm the work areas, move vehicles and portable items, notify tenants or staff, identify water access, and protect any sensitive equipment. Keep required entrances and delivery lanes clear. The contractor should confirm the sequence, drainage, surface methods, and written scope before work starts.
A week before the visit
Share the scheduled window with tenants, managers, vendors, and anyone responsible for deliveries. Confirm whether gates, loading areas, or utility rooms require a key or escort. Identify vehicles or outdoor furnishings that cannot be moved until the day of service.
- Confirm property and emergency contacts
- Share access instructions
- Identify restricted or sensitive areas
- Plan tenant and staff notices
Before the crew arrives
Move vehicles, signs, mats, planters, and unsecured outdoor items away from the work area. Close windows and doors. Check that the agreed water access is available and that irrigation will not run during the cleaning window.
If one entrance must remain open, mark it clearly and make sure the work sequence reflects it.
What the contractor should confirm
Preparation is not only the customer's responsibility. The contractor should review the surfaces, note existing damage, confirm where water will travel, protect adjacent areas, and explain the order of work. A written estimate should reflect that actual scope.
